Chapter 16: A Gift Fit for Power
by SlivvoElle Camden’s stunning figure wasn’t just luck—it was a meticulously crafted result of her diet.
Every time Jordan shared a meal with her, he couldn’t help but notice her obsession with bust-enhancing foods like papaya.
This time was no different.
Jordan, watching as Elle reached for another serving of papaya soup, smirked.
“Do you even need to eat more papaya?”
Elle froze mid-motion, her eyes flaring with anger.
“What do you mean by that?!”
In a flash, she stood up and strode toward him, her body inches from his.
Jordan, looking up, was met with an intimidating sight—two ‘mountains’ nearly pressing against him.
Elle’s voice dripped with fury.
“Explain yourself! Why don’t I need to eat more papaya?”
Jordan, well aware that she was his cousin-in-law, decided not to make things too explicit.
He raised his hands in surrender.
“Forget I said anything. Here, I’ll serve you the soup myself.”
Yet, even after Jordan personally brought her the soup, Elle wasn’t satisfied.
Instead, she stormed over to Old Mrs. Camden’s table, her face flushed with righteous indignation.
“Grandma! Why is Jordan even allowed to stay for lunch? He didn’t even bring you a birthday gift! What kind of useless ingrate is this?”
The banquet hall fell silent as Elle continued her tirade.
“For three years, my uncle and aunt have wanted to kick him out. If you hadn’t insisted on keeping him around, do you think he’d still be here?”
She huffed, flipping her hair dramatically.
“Sure, we might have mistreated him, but we still let him stay in a luxury apartment and drive an expensive car. Yet, he didn’t even prepare a gift for your 80th birthday!”
Though Elle’s words were laced with venom, they weren’t entirely wrong.
Jordan’s mission was to endure being a live-in son-in-law for three years, and without Old Mrs. Camden’s insistence on keeping him, he would have failed long ago.
And now that he was finally leaving, he should have brought a gift.
Jordan pondered for a moment, then casually took out his phone.
Dialing Butler Frank, he spoke calmly.
“Prepare a birthday gift for Old Mrs. Camden and have it sent to the Marriott Hotel.”
Elle scoffed loudly.
“Oh? Finally coming to your senses? Too bad. We Camdens don’t accept garbage gifts!”
Drew chimed in, laughing.
“Yeah, Jordan, don’t embarrass yourself. Look at all these gifts—each one is worth at least $30,000.”
Hailey, still concerned about appearances, stepped in.
“Jordan, just cancel whatever cheap thing you ordered. If you really want to give Grandma a gift, I’ll have someone prepare one on your behalf.”
Jordan ignored all of them, continuing to eat his meal, completely unbothered.
He hadn’t specified the price of the gift, but he knew one thing for sure—the Steeles never gave cheap presents.
A Mysterious Delivery
Ten minutes later, a delivery man appeared at the hotel lobby entrance.
The hotel attendant immediately stopped him.
“I’m sorry, but today is Old Mrs. Camden’s birthday banquet. No unauthorized personnel are allowed inside.”
The delivery man held up an elegant-looking box, its craftsmanship alone exuding luxury.
“I’m here to deliver a birthday gift.”
The attendant’s gaze flickered toward the ornate box, and after a brief hesitation, he stepped aside, allowing the man to enter.
The delivery man walked into the banquet hall, scanning the room.
“Excuse me, whose birthday is it today?”
Drew, already irritated, stood up aggressively.
“It’s my grandmother’s! Who let you in?!”
The delivery man remained calm.
“I was sent here by a Rolls-Royce owner on East Central Boulevard. He’s caught in traffic and may not make it in time, so he gave me $50 to bring this gift to the Marriott Hotel.”
At the mention of a ‘Rolls-Royce owner’, Drew’s expression immediately softened.
“Oh… So this is a birthday gift for my grandma? Give it to me.”
Taking the gift box, Drew eagerly opened it, his eyes widening in astonishment.
Inside was a stunning emerald jadeite bracelet.
Old Mrs. Camden, intrigued, leaned forward.
“Drew, what is it?”
Drew hurried to her side, practically tripping over himself.
“Grandma, look! It’s a jadeite bracelet—it looks incredibly expensive!”
Old Mrs. Camden gasped in excitement, immediately grabbing the bracelet to inspect its texture and color.
Her eyes gleamed with admiration.
“What an exquisite emerald jadeite! Does anyone here have knowledge of jadeite? Can someone appraise this for me?”
A middle-aged man, the owner of a well-known jewelry store, stepped forward.
“Old Mrs. Camden, allow me.”
Taking the bracelet, he examined it closely, rubbing his fingers over its flawless surface.
His brows lifted in surprise.
“This is a glass jadeite—it has an incredibly pure, bright, and even color. There isn’t a single flaw. This is incredibly valuable.”
Hailey, practically drooling, asked eagerly, “How much is it worth?”
To get a better look at the translucence, the jeweler walked to the window, allowing the sunlight to hit the jadeite.
The moment he saw the way it gleamed, he nearly dropped it in shock.
“It’s not just translucent… It’s completely transparent! This is the finest quality of jade! This bracelet is worth at least $1 million!”
A stunned silence filled the room.
Then—gasps erupted from the crowd.
A delivery man had just brought a $1 million gift?!
Who was the mysterious tycoon behind it?!
