Chapter 30: A Miscalculated Move
by SlivvoJordan looked at Tyler like he was an idiot.
“Does this guy ever think before he speaks?”
Tyler, however, was convinced he had figured it out.
Ashley’s words about someone kneeling had solidified his assumption—Jordan must have begged for Victoria’s forgiveness!
Tyler sneered. “Jordan Steele, weren’t you acting all high and mighty yesterday at the banquet? When Miss Clarke asked you to be her bodyguard, you turned her down! You wanted to act noble, right?”
“And yet, here you are, dressed up first thing in the morning, begging Miss Clarke to let you be her lackey!”
Tyler turned to Victoria. “Miss Clarke, don’t fall for it! You said yesterday that you’d make sure this loser could never survive in this city. Stick to your word!”
Victoria’s Fury
Standing outside the door, Ashley was shocked.
“Miss Clarke wanted to cut off all of Mr. Steele’s means of livelihood?”
She stared at her boss.
Victoria’s face turned red with anger.
How dare Tyler put her in an uncomfortable position like this, right in front of the employees?
Smack!
Victoria slapped Tyler across the face again!
“Bastard! When did I ever say that!? Get out! You are banned from entering this company again!”
She turned toward the employees. “Fire the one who let him up here immediately!”
Tyler stumbled back, humiliated.
His face burned, not just from the slap, but from the fact that he was slapped in public, twice!
Still, he refused to back down.
His hatred was now focused entirely on Jordan.
Pointing at him, he spat, “Jordan Steele, don’t think this is over! I’ll make sure you end up homeless and behind bars soon!”
Tyler’s Outrage
Tyler stormed out of the building, his blood boiling.
Inside his BMW, he slammed his hands against the steering wheel repeatedly.
“That bitch Victoria Clarke! Who does she think she is!?”
Furious, he muttered, “You’re just a pretty face who used men to climb to the top. You dare slap me? One day, I’ll make you kneel and beg me for mercy!”
But right now, his priority was Jordan.
He pulled out his phone and dialed a familiar number.
“Old Mrs. Camden, you won’t believe what Jordan is doing now.”
The Camden Household Reacts
An hour later, in the Camden villa, the entire family was gathered.
“WHAT!? That loser Jordan Steele became Victoria Clarke’s bodyguard?”
Old Mrs. Camden slammed her cane against the floor, her voice filled with disbelief.
Everyone, including Hailey, Herman, Elle, Drew, and Benedict, was equally shocked.
Tyler smirked. “Yes. I saw it myself. Jordan was in Victoria Clarke’s office, taking orders from her.”
“And you know what else? I heard from Ace Corporation employees that Jordan kneeled down the second he saw Victoria, begging for her forgiveness.”
His words hit Hailey like a brick.
Her hands clenched into fists, and her voice trembled with rage.
“That bastard Jordan Steele! He actually kneeled for another woman!? I was married to him for THREE YEARS, and he NEVER kneeled for me!”
She was furious.
“I gave him so many chances! If he had just gotten on his knees and admitted his mistakes, I wouldn’t have divorced him. I wouldn’t have called the cops on him! But he refused to kneel for ME!”
“And yet, he kneeled for Victoria so quickly!?”
Hailey couldn’t take it.
The more she thought about it, the more agitated she became.
Mockery From the Camdens
Drew sneered, “Hailey, how did you even educate him in the past three years? Instead of kneeling for his wife, he kneeled for another woman. What an embarrassment!”
Elle chimed in, “Hailey, you must not be charming enough! If Jordan were my husband, I’d have made sure he kneeled to wash my feet every day from day one!”
Even Old Mrs. Camden turned on Hailey.
“You couldn’t even discipline a live-in son-in-law in three years? You are so incompetent! If you had controlled him better, would he have dared to hit Drew?”
Hearing everyone blame her, Hailey’s nails dug into her palms.
“If I had another chance to make him my husband, I would make him kneel from morning till night! The only mistake I made was being TOO NICE to him!”
She regretted it all.
For three years, she had been gentle with Jordan. That was why he had fallen in love with her.
But now?
Hailey hated that she had ever been kind to him.
More than anything, she hated Victoria Clarke.
Hailey’s Jealous Rage
“Grandma!” Hailey said, her voice sharp with fury.
“Victoria Clarke went back on her words! Yesterday, she stood with us! She swore to destroy Jordan! And now, she’s taking him as her bodyguard!? We should cut ties with her immediately and deal with her!”
Smack!
Old Mrs. Camden slapped Hailey across the face.
Everyone fell silent.
Old Mrs. Camden’s eyes were sharp. “What nonsense are you saying!? Victoria Clarke still has our 11-million-dollar investment in her hands! We can’t afford to turn against her!”
Hailey held her cheek, her face turning red with humiliation.
Herman scoffed. “Hailey, I know you’re jealous of Miss Clarke, but you need to accept it. She’s more competent than you.”
Hailey shook with frustration.
Accept it?
Accept that Jordan—HER HUSBAND—had chosen another woman to kneel for?
No.
She wouldn’t accept it.
“Fine! Since none of you will help me, I’ll go to Ace Corporation myself!”
With fire in her eyes, Hailey stormed out of the Camden villa.
