Chapter 66: The Unraveling Facade
by SlivvoTyler had always taken pride in being the center of attention among his wealthy social circle. He flaunted his wealth, boasted about his achievements, and relished in the admiration of his peers.
Today, as he stood at his own wedding, everything should have gone his way. He was marrying the so-called ‘most beautiful woman in Orlando.’ The only imperfection? Hailey was a divorcee.
To compensate for this flaw, Tyler had planned a public humiliation for Jordan Steele. He had told all his friends in advance that he would make Jordan look pathetic in front of everyone.
But the tables had turned in ways he never imagined.
Instead of humiliating Jordan, he was the one being mocked. He was the one being told to bow, to pour wine, to show deference.
Is he fooling me?
The thought nagged at Tyler. He refused to believe that Jordan, a former live-in husband, was truly the president of Ace Corporation.
“Jordan Steele is a fraud,” he murmured under his breath, his mind scrambling for explanations.
Tyler convinced himself that Jordan and Victoria Clarke had concocted an elaborate deception. That Victoria, infatuated with Jordan, had helped him fake his status. That the Heaven’s Eye app had been tampered with. That even Mr. Walton, who had seemed so deferential to Jordan, might be an impostor.
“Hahaha!” Tyler suddenly burst out laughing, his arrogance returning in full force. “Jordan Steele, you’re lying to all of us! You’re just a bodyguard pretending to be a billionaire! Are you trying to make Hailey regret leaving you?”
Gasps echoed throughout the room. The guests turned to Jordan, waiting for his response.
Rosie’s face turned crimson with anger. “Tyler! What nonsense are you spouting!? Didn’t you see how Mr. Walton treated Mr. Steele just now?”
“I’m not making things up,” Tyler insisted. “Think about it! Doesn’t Mr. Walton look different from his TV appearances? His height, his face—it’s all wrong!”
A murmur spread through the crowd.
“Now that you mention it, I didn’t really pay attention to his face…”
“His chin did seem a little sharper than usual…”
“Yeah, and isn’t Mr. Walton shorter? I heard he’s only about 1.65 meters, but the man just now looked taller.”
The guests began to whisper among themselves, their suspicions growing.
Victoria had heard enough. “Tyler Collins, are you stupid? How could the information on Heaven’s Eye be fabricated?”
Tyler smirked. “Miss Clarke, I must admit, you’ve put on quite the performance. But hacking an app for a few minutes? That’s hardly impossible.”
Ryan Dunn, still kneeling on the ground, snapped. “Tyler, you fool! Do you think I would be in this state if Mr. Steele wasn’t the real deal? If you keep doubting him, you won’t even know what hit you when your life falls apart!”
Zack Smith chimed in, “Tyler, I know you’re desperate, but your excuses are pathetic. You’re only spewing lies because you know Mr. Steele will ruin you for stealing his wife.”
Tyler’s face turned pale. Cold sweat beaded his forehead. Zack had read him like a book.
“Security! Throw these two out!” Tyler barked, his voice trembling with rage. Two burly guards rushed forward and dragged Ryan and Zack away.
Meanwhile, Hailey was growing increasingly anxious. She had spent the past three years believing Jordan was beneath her. But now…
“Jordan, is this real?” Hailey whispered, her voice almost desperate. “Are you really the president of Ace Corporation?”
Jordan’s gaze was unreadable. “If it makes you feel better, you can pretend I’m not.”
Hailey’s heart sank. He wasn’t going to give her the answer she wanted.
Sylvie Parker exhaled in relief. “Oh, you scared me, Jordan! I thought you had actually made it in life! Turns out you were just bluffing—”
Benedict yanked Sylvie back and hissed, “Are you trying to get us killed!?”
Sylvie frowned. “Isn’t he pretending?”
Benedict’s voice was sharp. “If you want to throw your life away, don’t drag the Camdens down with you! If you insult Jordan again, I swear I’ll divorce you on the spot!”
Sylvie paled, her lips pressing together in a tight line.
Leonard, caught between uncertainty and suspicion, finally spoke. “Let’s all take a seat. The wedding is about to begin.”
Rosie forced a smile. “Mr. Steele and my son were just joking around. Please, everyone, enjoy your drinks.”
The guests returned to their seats, but their eyes never left Jordan.
At a separate table, Victoria sighed. “How can they still doubt your identity?”
Jordan took a sip of water, his expression calm. “Apart from Hailey and Sylvie, I think the Collins and Camdens know the truth now.”
Before Victoria could reply, a voice echoed through the hall.
Leonard’s eyes widened in surprise. “Mr. Wills?”
Dustin Wills, the president of the renowned Electron Co., had just entered the venue.
Leonard hurried forward to greet him. “Mr. Wills, I never expected you to attend my son’s wedding. What an honor!”
Dustin smiled politely but shook his head. “I’m not here for your son.”
