Chapter 71: The Unraveling
by SlivvoOutside the hotel, a male guest stepped out, grinning as he scrolled through his contacts and dialed a number.
“Devon Blaine,” he said smoothly when the call connected. “I remember the Camdens from Orlando are your relatives. How’s Hailey Camden related to you?”
A cold voice replied, “My mother is her grandfather’s sister, so Hailey is my niece. Why do you ask?”
The man chuckled. “Oh, so she’s really your niece, huh? Then you missed quite the show, buddy. Turns out the president of Ace Corporation is the same man everyone thought was a loser—the live-in son-in-law your niece divorced. And today, she married Tyler Collins, only to run straight back into Jordan’s arms.”
Boston
Devon hung up the call, his brows furrowing. Beside him, his mother, Lily, lay in bed, her frail voice breaking the silence.
“Devon, did something happen to Hailey?”
Looking at his weak mother, he hesitated but eventually nodded. “Yes, Mom, she’s divorced from Jordan.”
Lily sighed, but her next words shocked him. “Are Hailey and Jordan really divorced?”
Devon frowned. “Of course. She married Tyler Collins today.”
A mysterious smile tugged at Lily’s lips. “Your uncle, Hailey’s grandfather, knew Jordan’s true identity all along. That’s why he allowed the marriage. He also knew Hailey’s arrogance would one day lead her to divorce him.”
“What?” Devon was stunned.
Lily’s voice remained calm. “Your uncle had the lawyers tamper with the divorce papers long before his passing. Hailey and Jordan’s divorce was never legally valid, and neither is her new marriage to Tyler.”
Devon’s jaw dropped. “Hailey’s grandfather was that farsighted?”
Lily nodded. “Now let her suffer the consequences. She must realize the value of what she lost. When she’s truly desperate, then we’ll tell her the truth.”
Devon smirked. “Got it, Mom. I won’t say a word.”
West Lake Residential Estate
Hailey stormed into the house she was supposed to share with Tyler, already packing her bags.
Tyler’s furious voice echoed behind her. “Hailey Camden, where do you think you’re going? We just got married today! Are you running to Jordan’s place!?”
She turned, eyes burning with determination. “Yes, Tyler. Let’s get a divorce.”
Tyler’s face twisted with rage. “You humiliated me at our wedding! Fine! Let’s get a divorce! A woman like you isn’t worthy of being my wife!”
Without hesitation, they stormed off to the lawyer’s office to dissolve their sham of a marriage.
